Judson Baptist Church Leadership and Staff

Judson Baptist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Damon Thomas

Pastor

The Lord’s call became very evident to me in 1996. He called me to be a pastor shepherd and since 1997, I have been faithful to this calling. God’s Word is God-breathed – authoritative in its inerrancy and transformative in its application. In His Word, God reveals His calling for His shepherds to disciple those who are new to the faith and to equip all believers to serve as Christ has called them to serve [Eph 4:11-13].

After graduating from Liberty University in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Religion, entered into fulltime ministry as a youth pastor and eventually as an Associate Pastor. In 2010, I graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Shepherds Theological Seminary in Cary, NC. A year later, Cornerstone Bible Church would be birthed in Brookline, New Hampshire. I pastored CBC from 2011 to 2023. Joel Gibbs was voted in as pastor two months prior to my departure and has faithfully served as senior pastor since then.

My wife, Luciana, and I have six adult children and three grandsons. We also have a great love for God and His Word. God has been so very faithful in leading and providing for us all of our days. We both are passionate about equipping this next generation to reach more lives for Christ. Our personal vision is – to Know Christ and Make Him Known. [1Cor 9:16] For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for I am under compulsion; for woe is me if I do not preach the gospel.

Chuck Johnson

Associate Pastor

Chuck Johnson’s life is a testament to the power of deep roots and a steadfast commitment to his community. A lifelong resident of the Fayetteville area, Charles has built a legacy defined by his devotion to his family and his faith.

Chuck’s journey began at Judson Baptist Church, the place that would serve as the spiritual cornerstone of his entire life. Growing up, he watched his parents and grandparents serve faithfully in the church, an example of leadership and service that left a lasting impression on young Charles.

It was within these same church walls that he met his wife, Danette. Having both been raised at Judson, they eventually married and chose to raise their own family in the same spiritual home that shaped them. For Chuck, the church has never been just a building, but a multigenerational foundation for his household.

Chuck’s dedication to learning took him through several academic institutions. After graduating from Cape Fear High School, he earned his degree in Elementary Education from Methodist University. In 2007, Charles received his Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty University.

Chuck dedicated many years to the youth of North Carolina, serving as a teacher for Cumberland County Schools and as a religion instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Now retired, Chuck’s passion for instruction remains as vibrant as ever. Today, his favorite thing to do is teach Sunday School. It is here that his lifelong love for the church and his professional expertise as an educator intersect, allowing him to continue pouring into the lives of others and sharing the faith that has guided him since childhood.
